This Fowey weblog is a celebration of one of the most beautiful river valleys in the world – its tributaries, the woods that flank it, the estuary and its junction with the sea, and the abundant wildlife – both flora and fauna – it supports.
Its focus is on nature – currently threatened as much as ever by our own ongoing activities which have created climate change, poisoning through chemicals and pollution, and loss of habitat and connectivity. We know we have to change many of our ways of living to reduce CO2 and, broadly speaking, we know the steps we have to take to do this. We also know that we have to stop taking habitats away from the other living things that give us pleasure and are vital to the ecosystems on which our lives rely. We need to go further and actually restore habitats too, with the emphasis on increasing biodiversity and connectivity.
As editor, I’ll try and update this site regularly and please feel free to email me any contributions you see fit. Thank you.
